Dr. Victoria L Bacon, CGP, began her professional career while completing her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. She went on to complete a two-year certificate program at the Gestalt Institute of New England (Levels I & II). Dr. Bacon is an internationally certified group psychotherapist who has created, taught, and conducted various groups for persons across the lifespan. Her clinical work includes experience with children and adolescents in schools and colleges as well as serving clients over the lifespan in community mental health clinics and hospital settings.
Dr. Bacon has teaching experience spanning 47 years that includes Antioch College of New England, Northeastern University, Keene State, Fitchburg State University, Lesley University, Simmons University, and Bridgewater State University where she has been full time in the Department of Counselor Education for the past 26 years. She has presented, conducted workshops, and consulted throughout the United States, Canada, England, and Puerto Rico.
Dr. Bacon has published journal articles and book chapters on group work, interventions for sport related injuries and addiction. More recently she co-authored the book, A Guide to Conducting Wellness Groups for Veterans and Older Adults: The Legacy Model (2023). She has served as a manuscript reviewer for several prestigious journals and publishing companies including the American Psychiatric Association, National Association for Girls and Women in Sport, Association for Specialists in Group Work, the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology, Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, Inc., Publishers, Sage Publications, Human Kinetics Journals, Brooks/Cole Publisher, and Routledge/Taylor & Francis Group.
